FilmShrink 0.3.3 Beta

FilmShrink is a DVD-Video backup software for Windows, which transcodes video titles into the RealMedia format (RealVideo / RealAudio 10) powered by the Helix DNA platform.

As a precaution, before using this program, you should be aware that FilmShrink doesn’t support encrypted DVD titles.

On the other hand, you will enjoy a variety of powerful features, such as multichannel audio and subtitle settings and batch encoding.

FilmShrink supports RealVideo 10 Elysian, RealAudio 10 (AAC, HE-AAC, and 5.1 multi-channel audio codec) and it can handle both PAL and NTSC DVD video formats.

Regarding audio features, FilmShrink supports Dolby Digital (AC-3, DTS, MPEG and LPCM audio tracks. Bith permanent and burnt in subtitles can be managed by FilmShrink.

Some editing options included with FilmShrink are video resizing, crop filter, and deinterlace and inverse telecine filters. The PGC/angle selection option comes with immediate preview.

Besides using the many advanced video and audio codec options offered by FilmShrink, you will also appreciate the efficient job management approach and the automatic shutdown option allowing you to set your computer to turn itself off when the conversion job is finished.

The developers of FilmShrink make a note regarding transcoded media playback: RealPlayer 10 or higher should be installed on your computer ( or Real Alternative).

Other requirements refer to system performance: 400 MHz CPU, 128 MB RAM, and 10 GB of free hard disk space. FilmShrink should work on any Windows operating system, from 9x to 2003. The latest versions of Windows may not be supported, as the application has not been updated anymore since 2005.

Although FilmShrink is obsolete by today’s standards, some users may still find it helpful if they have an older computer running a Windows version such as 2003.
